Your Data, Explained — A Guide for Students
LEARN-CO.DE LTD ("learn-co.de", "we", "us", "our")
Version 1.0 — Effective 22 June 2026
This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use learn-co.de. It is written for students. It is a short, friendly summary — the full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Who looks after your information?
Your school is in charge of your information. Your school decided to use learn-co.de and chose what information to give us (like your name and class). We only look after that information for your school, and we only do what your school asks us to do with it.
That means if you have a question about your data, or you want to see it, change it, or have it deleted, the best person to ask is your teacher or your school. They can sort it out, and we will help them.
What information do we have about you?
To make learn-co.de work, we keep things like:
- your name and your school email address or username;
- your class, your year group, and which school you belong to;
- the work you do — your answers, your code, your scores, and how you are getting on with topics.
We only keep what we need to help you learn computer science. We do not ask for sensitive information about you, so please don't type things like health or personal secrets into answer boxes or code comments.
What we will never do
- We will never sell your information to anyone.
- We will never show you adverts or use your information for advertising.
- We do not use any AI to read or mark your work, and we do not build a "profile" of you.
- We will never share your information with other companies for their own use.
Can other people see my work?
- Your teachers at your school can see your work — that's how they help you learn and give you feedback.
- Other students cannot see your private work or your account.
- Other schools can never see your school's information. Everything is kept separate, school by school.
Remember: anything you type (including comments in your code) can be seen by your teachers, so keep it sensible and kind — just like schoolwork on paper.
Keeping your account safe
Your account is just for you. When you first sign in you set your own password using a link we email to your school email address — that's how we check it's really you, and it means even your teacher never knows your password. Don't share it or let anyone else log in as you. If you think someone knows your password, tell your teacher so it can be changed.
How long do we keep your information?
We keep your information while your school is using learn-co.de. If your school stops using it, your information is deleted after a short period. Your school can also delete your account at any time.
Questions?
Ask your teacher or your school first — they are in charge of your information. If you want, an adult can also contact us at privacy@learn-co.de.
